ROG Phone 3 for Mobile Game Players

If you are a fan of playing games using a mobile phone, then today’s post is for you. This post is about Asus ROG Phone 3. The box something of different shapes but in the Asian region, you will find a box with a Cuboid shape.

Based on my research I found that the cuboid shape box comes with fewer accessories.

The phone I own has a Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865+ chipset. Other than that, it has 12GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. When unboxing, you will find the paperwork and a unique back cover. After that, you will be able to see the device.

Asus has followed the same design principles which were used in ROG 1 and 2 when designing this phone.

This phone supports fast charging. You can find a 30-watt adaptor in the box itself. In addition to that, you will find a converter that converts a USB type C port 3.5 mm jack port.  The device has only one Type C port, you are not allowed to use the headset and the charger at the same time. I  see this as a disadvantage. However, if you prefer an external speaker such as a Bluetooth speaker you don’t have this problem.

I didn’t receive the cooling fan with the device (since I bought the device which comes with the cuboid box).  As I said earlier this phone comes in two different boxes and the cuboid-shaped box doesn’t include the cooling fan (in the Asian region). Hence you need to purchase it separately.  The cooling fan has two ports one is a USB type C port and the other one is a 3.5 mm headphone port.

Personally, I feel that this is a very good option for the people who are playing games with their mobiles. The specification, the design, and the battery life offer a premium experience for Gamers.

If you compare the ROG 3 phone with ROG 1 and 2,  you will find the size of the carbon chamber cooling system is reduced. The backside of this device is specifically designed to support the external cooling fan.

When playing games you don’t need to have separate microphones because this device is powered with 4 microphones. You can find them at the topmost edge,  the bottom age, near the power button, and the back camera.  this microphone setup is very useful when playing multiplayer games as the other players can hear what you say without any background interruptions.

The power button and volume rocker are located towards the right. The SIM tray (2  Nano SIMs is can be used at the same time) is located towards the left side. Also, there is a knob for the cooling fan (where you can plug the external cooling device).

Have you noticed that the air triggers (version 3) can be fully customized in this device? Well, this is another cool feature of this device.  In this phone, you can use the air triggers as four buttons. The buttons at each side can be partitioned. Also, an action can be assigned for the swipe as well.

As per my opinion,  the build quality is acceptable for a gaming phone. Not supporting wireless charging and not having water/dust resistance is a weakness. There a 2 stereo speakers in this device. These will help to offer a better sound experience.

Since this phone is powered with USF 3.1 technology, the reading and writing speed has been also improved compared to the old models. The display size is 6.59 inches (1080p). Due to the high refresh rate (144Hz), the graphics experience is outstanding as per my observation (especially when playing games). These days most phones have a 90Hz refresh rate (max) but this ROG 3 phone has a more improved refresh rate.

Let’s talk about software features. This phone is powered by Android 10 OS.  Also, there is an X-mode and game genie facility. These features will help to get a premium gaming experience (uninterrupted gaming, dedicated bandwidth for gaming, etc).

The 6000mAh battery is capable of powering this device for about a day even with heavy games (based on my experience). at the same time, you can play a game while charging (thanks to the cooling system).

When it comes to security, the ROG 3 phone supports two biometric authentication mechanisms (fingerprint scanner and/face ID). Other than that, you can find a triple camera setup (64MP main lens, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and 5MP macro lens). Since this is a gaming phone,  the camera quality is acceptable as per my opinion. However, the quality is sufficient for day to day use.

Personally, I feel this phone is one of the best gaming phones you can buy in the Asian region. I would like to know your thoughts as well.
