If you are looking for a low budget, feature-rich smartphone, then I would like to recommend you the Xiaomi Redmi series. In today’s article, I’m going to show you a comparison between Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro vs Redmi Note 9S.
If you hope to spend around 250 USD, then you can have a look at these two devices and choose if any if it fits your budget and requirements. The Note 9 Pro is about 30 USD expensive than Note 9 S.
For this comparison, I am using the Redmi Note 9 Pro (64GB ROM, 6GB RAM) and Redmi Note 9 S (64GB ROM, 4GB RAM).
First, I would like to discuss the look and feel of these 2 phones. For me, both phones look exactly the same (the appearance). It is very difficult to tell the difference by looking at the devices from the front. The back of the devices has information about the MP (mega-pixel) value of the main camera. That was the only difference I noticed in the back of the phone.
However, if you take the “Tropical Green” color of Redmi Note 9 Pro will give you a slightly different look and feel compared to the Note 9 S of the same color.
If you choose the other available colors, then the design or appearance will be mostly the same.
Next, I will pay attention to the selfie camera. Both devices are occupied with a 16 MP selfie camera. Hence I didn’t notice any significant change in the two photos captured using the selfie camera.
Once I took 2 photos from both devices (using the default mode), they looked mostly the same. I couldn’t notice a significant difference even for the dynamic range, depth, ultra-wide, color, and sharpness aspects (in the default modes). But when I switched to the HD (high definition) mode in Note 9 Pro (64 MP) while having the HD mode in Note 9 Pro (48 MP), the photo was taken from Note 9 Pro looked slightly better.
When it comes to video recording, both devices showed the same amount of performance and quality. According to the specifications of these devices, they both support 1080p video recording.
Usually, I prefer to use my memory card on my phone. If you also have the same interest, then both these devices will suit your need as they both provide dedicated slots for the memory card.
I was able to notice a small difference in the chargers provided for these devices. The Redmi Note 9 Pro supports 30W fast charging while the Redmi Note 9S was only capable of supporting 18W fast charging. Based on my experience, the Redmi Note 9 Pro can save about 30 minutes of charging time compared to the Redmi Note 9 S. Since both devices are powered by 5020 mAh batteries, I guess the charger is the dominant factor for this.
Do you use NFS (Near Field Communication) frequently? If yes, then you should choose the Note 9 Pro device. The Note 9 S phone does not support NFC. For me, this is not a critical factor as I rarely use NFC in daily life.
As the next comparing factor, I have paid attention to the fingerprint sensor. Both devices have a fingerprint sensor on the side of the device. This is a bit annoying when trying to unlock the phone in a hurry (my observation). I prefer the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone as it gives easy access to it. However, the fingerprint sensors in both devices showed the same level of speed and accuracy. Both devices took less than 0.5 seconds to unlock the phone.
So, that’s my perspective of these two devices. Now it’s time for you to make a choice. Which device do you prefer?
